

Loretta Crowe Perry, 80, of Kennesaw passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. A funeral service will be held at North Metro Church on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm. with Pastor Larry Ragan and Pastor Sonny Lallerstedt officiating. Burial will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. After growing up in Cartersville, Atlanta and Marietta, Loretta graduated from Marietta High School. She had many connections to the Marietta area including her father, Horace Crowe, being a long time sports editor for the Marietta Daily Journal and her grandfather, Edward Swanson, being a former sheriff of Cobb County. She originally met her future husband, Jim Perry, at O’Keefe High School in Atlanta and reconnected with him a few years later and they were married shortly afterwards. They settled in Smyrna where Jim started a CPA practice. Both were actively involved with the Jaycees and they attended nearby King Spring Baptist Church. She also loved to help local kids at Calvary Children's Home and bought many of them clothes for Easter. Later in life, she became a bailiff for Judge Mary Staley and could be seen serving at the Cobb County Courthouse for many years. She was a gourmet cook and was once offered a job by a local chef to help teach cooking classes, but she turned that down in order to spend time with her family and friends. Loretta and Jim also had a passion for travel, visiting many places over the years including, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico and Europe. They also enjoyed attending conventions with the Georgia Society of CPAs and made a number of friends through that organization. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jim, brother Marion Crowe, mother Elizabeth Crowe and father Horace Crowe. She is survived by her daughter Julie Perry, son Andy Perry and his wife Brenda, grandchildren Rachel and Adam, brothers, Ron Crowe and Robert Crowe, nieces and nephews Angie Kirkpatrick, Heather Mosier, David Crowe and Kiera Salazar and grandnephews Daniel ,Austin and Matthew. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the funeral home. Castellaw Funeral Home, Smyrna, GA is in charge of the arrangements. 770 435-9038
