

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 24th at 2:00p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Marietta, Georgia.
Born in Talladega, Alabama to Katherine Minge and Otis Vaughan on September 15, 1934, he was the eldest of three children. The family relocated to Marietta, Georgia in March, 1946, after World War II. Jack served in the Air Force/Air National Guard for fourteen years as a flight engineer. He later earned his pilots' license and had a great love of flying. He was the owner of Exact Engineering, a company he founded in 1970. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Marietta since 1960. He served as a boys baseball coach at Custer Park for fifteen years. Later in life, he enjoyed tennis.
Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gretchen Griggs Vaughan; Children, the late John Dixon "Jack" Vaughan, Jr., who served in the Georgia state legislature, Sally Reichert (Leo), Hal Vaughan (Jennifer), and Mary Fortenberry (Duane). He also was grandfather to Kate Reichert, Leo E. Reichert III, John D. Vaughan III, Nick Fortenberry, Ben Vaughan, Julia Fortenberry, Will Reichert, Bailey Vaughan, and Luke Reichert. Known to all as "Papa Jack," he had a ready smile and never met a stranger.
The family will receive friends at a reception following the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to First United Methodist Church for The Park on Polk, or to the charity of your choice.
