Katherline devoted her life to her family, friends and the church, particularly her Sunday School class at First Baptist, Marietta. For 70 years, she and her beloved husband “Armi” made a life together—the two were truly one. They provided comfort, strength, character, and, most of all, love and acceptance for three daughters. Being a “hands on” grandmother, known as “Meme,” Katherline knew her grandchildren well. She was a hairdresser par excellence, and gifted her friends with haircuts and permanents. Cooking, with the goal of feeding family and friends, was one of her favorite pastimes. And, she could play a competitive game of tennis!
Katherline is preceded in death by her parents and loving spouse of 70 years, Harland Burnell (Armi) Armitage. She is survived by three daughters: Kaye Armitage DeJarnett (Stan), Sheri Armitage Pender ( William), and Lisa Armitage Liebe; nine grandchildren: Joshua Pender, Brittany DeJarnett Kisner, Amy Pender Dockery, Caroline DeJarnett Flexer, Andrew Liebe, Julia Pender, Emily DeJarnett, Richard Liebe, and Joseph Liebe; and four great grandchildren Aaron Liebe, William Ray Dockery, Kathleen (Kate) Kisner, and James Pender Dockery.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Kennesaw Memorial Park, 1306 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, Georgia, at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 148 Church Street, Marietta, GA 30060.
