Margaret Blessing

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta with Monsignor John Walsh officiating.

Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery on Whitlock Avenue in Marietta, GA

Marge was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. She worked at her local parish in religious education. After receiving her master’s in theology, she became Assistant Director of Religious Education for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. After retirement, she moved to Georgia to be near her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta, GA where she volunteered her time with church outreach programs and actively participated in her Bible Study Group.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Blessing and by her sisters Mary and Alice Geers. She is survived by her children – Kevin (Angela) Blessing of Dallas, TX, Patty (John) Moran of Marietta, GA, Peggy (Lou) Ramos of Acworth, Joe (Sara) Blessing of East Point, GA; GA, and Kathy (Kevin) Gleeson of Marietta, GA; grandchildren Isabel Blessing, Kevin (Kellie) Blessing Jr., Emma Blessing, Alex Blessing, Eric Ramos, Annie (Thomas) Verdin, Jason Ramos, Sadie Blessing, Abigail Blessing, Jake Gleeson, and Kayleigh Gleeson, and great-grandchildren: Peter Verdin, Timothy Verdin and Kevin Blessing III.

Marge was a leader in her long career with the Catholic Church. She was an advocate for bringing Catholic education to all students, including those with special needs. She found great joy in her family as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. At a time when few women were pursuing education and careers, she earned her master’s in theology and combined parenting with a full-time occupation. She will be remembered fondly by both her family and community.
