Marilyn Yvonne Sapp

Marilyn Lane Sapp, 71, of Kennesaw, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on March 29, 1955, to William and Mary Lane, who preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her beloved husband, Dr. Gerald L. Sapp. They were lifelong residents of Tifton, Georgia before relocating to Kennesaw.

Marilyn will be remembered for the love she shared with her family and friends, her strength, and the kindness she showed to those around her throughout her life. She was a true matriarch to her family and had a wonderful sense of style.

She is survived by her children, Kelly Schatz (Tim Martel), Maredith Hill (Torrey Hill), Gerald Sapp, Jr., Spencer Sapp, and Stacey Kent (Richard Kent); and by her cherished grandchildren, Emma Schatz, Cole Schatz, Ava Schatz, and Lily Schatz. She is also survived by her sisters, Glenda Mills and Diane Wiley, as well as many beloved cousins and extended family.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Donna Kane, Cindy and Lowell Hayward Hester for their continued support and care for her as she spent her final time in Fernandina Beach…her happy place.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 1 PM in the Historic Chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends between the hour of 12 until 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
