Martha Parris Burley

Martha Borden Burley, 89, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025. A family and friends visitation will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, Georgia. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park Marietta, Georgia immediately following the service.

Martha was born in Alabama to Allen Hutto Borden and Lillan Parris Borden on March 30, 1935. Both of

her parents were educators including time at Berry College in Rome, Georgia and the Cobb County

School District in Marietta, Georgia.

Martha graduated from Auburn University in 1957 with a degree in Home Economics. She was an active

member of McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church and was a devoted wife, mother,

grandmother and friend. Her lifelong passion was divided between her family, faith and Auburn football.

She was a loving home maker; supporting her husband of 52 years, 2 daughters, sons-in-laws,

grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her strong faith and love of Jesus Christ was her cornerstone

that she often shared with others. She loved the game of golf and traveled to China, Russia and Africa.

She undoubtedly will be missed by many, and her memories will be cherished forever.

Martha was proceeded in death by her husband Ira Leonard Burley III of Kennesaw, Georgia and

daughter Stacy Burley Moore of Roswell, Georgia. Survivors are daughter Suzanne Burley Barbaree and

husband, Jim of Rockmart, Georgia; Son-in-law Kent Moore of Woodstock, Georgia; four grandchildren;

Shanna Barbaree Owen and husband, Patrick Owen of White, Georgia, Andrew Kyle Barbaree of

Douglasville, Georgia, Heather Moore Collins and husband, Jake Collins of Gillsville, Georgia, Hunter

Moore and wife, Emma Moore of McDonough, Georgia, along with 3 great grandchildren, Lucy Louise

Moore age 2, Lillian Grace Collins age 2, Wade Withrow Collins age 1.
