Nellie Jean Cates, 81, of Marietta passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 1 PM in the chapel of Medford-Peden Funeral Home with burial to follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. Nellie is preceded in death by her husband, Huey "Tot" Cates; son, Ronnie Cates; parents, Claude & Eunice Whitley and brothers, Harold & Johnny Whitley. She is survived by her son, William Steve Cates of Marietta; aunt, Mary V. Holloway of Box Springs; caretakers as well as cousins, Gloria Worsham of Buford and Jodi Swilley of Duluth; brother, Jimmy Whitley of Senoia and sister-in-law, Bobbie Whitley of Columbus.
