Patricia Ellen Payne Hudson, of Kennesaw, died Friday morning, March 27. She was eighty-four. A proud Tennessee native, she was born in Chattanooga, attended Asbury College (now University), and graduated from the University of Tennessee, later earning her master’s degree from Kennesaw State University. She was a teacher for thirty-one years. She is preceded in death by the Reverend W. Laurens Hudson, her husband of fifty-eight years, whom she met at Ft. Oglethorpe United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sister, Susan Hall; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Greg Patterson; her son, Steve; her grandchildren, Brian Patterson and Katy Gomez (David); and a great-granddaughter, Lucy. The family will receive friends at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta, at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 31, followed by a 2:00 p.m. service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Asbury University, earmarked for the Tommy and Polly Payne Scholarship Fund.
