Bernadine Pavco Pavco Chaussy

Bernadine Pavco Chaussy, of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Pennsylvania, April 1, 1922 to John M. and Christine Conrad Pavco. She was a graduate of Wilkes Barre General Hospital School of Nursing in Pennsylvania. She served as a Lieutenant Jr. Grade in the United States Navy Nurse Corps during WW II where she met her husband. She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pern Joseph (P.J.) Chaussy; one sister, Mary Ann Pfingsten; three brothers, John, Robert and Lawrence Pavco.

Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Stewart of Matthews, NC and Annette Carey of Charleston, WV; two sons, Paul J. Chaussy of Waynesboro, VA and Steven Chaussy of Lakeworth, FL; five grandchildren, Shannon, Chad, Patrick, Stephen and John; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Nicholas; one sister, Betty Pfingsten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Mammi, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 2481 Spruce St., Martinsville, VA 24112.
