Carl W. Emerson

Carl Wayne Emerson, age 86 of Ridgeway, VA. passed away on May 9, 2019. He was born on June 12, 1932 in Martinsville, VA., a son of the late Albert Columbus Emerson and the late Abbie Ruth James Emerson. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley Neyer Emerson, a son, Gregory Emerson and nine siblings, Willard, Charlie, Roy, Kenny, Cliff, Jaybird, Dudley, Eva, and Ruth. He was employed by Old Dominion Freight Line as a truck driver for over 30 years. He was the last survivor of his generation. He attended First Baptist Church of Ridgeway. He loved dancing, traveling, Baltimore Orioles, music and hanging out with family. Mr. Emerson is survived by his wife, Mary Farmer Emerson, surviving children, Randy Goudy (Stephanie), Mathew Richardson, Carl “Wayne” Emerson, Jr., Earl Emerson (Denise), Debra Holley (Garry), Roxanne Dudley (Donnie), Jessica Arthur, Carlene Lundy, Carol Wunder (Wayne), Shirley Woolsey (Neil), Charlene Harris, Brenda Meeks (Joel), Beverly Emerson, 36 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. and at other times at the home. The family is very thankful for the care provided by Hospice of Rockingham County.
