Chester Leon Hundley

Chester Leon Hundley, 83, of Axton, VA passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Sovah Health Martinsville after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. He was born October 18, 1940 to John Adams Hundley and Clarice Vernida Barker Hundley.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Hundley, and nephews Donnie Hundley and Scottie Hundley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Dean Roach Hundley of the home; daughter, Amy Mabe of Axton; son, Michael Hundley (Ann) of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hundley and Brandon Hundley of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Abby Mabe of Axton; brothers, Daniel Hundley (Charlotte), Tony Hundley (Ann) , and Ed Hundley; sisters, Betty Rudy and Margaret Fain; brother-in-law, Ernest "Bubba" Roach (Gladys); sister-in-law, Regina Hundley; nieces, Cindy Pyrtle, Tammy Martin, Jennifer Hundley, and Angel Hunt; nephews Randy Hundley, Justin Hundley, and Shane Hundley; and trusty sidekick, Sophie.

Chester served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965. He then worked as a supervisor at Pulaski Furniture and AC Furniture. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spoiling his kids and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2024 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at McKee-Stone and will be officiated by John Rigney. Interment will be in the Roach Family Cemetery located on Sandy River Road.

The family will receive visitors at the home of Amy Mabe on Sandy River Road.
