

Donald Bruce Helton, 66, of Morgan Ford Road, Ridgeway, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home. He was born in Washington County, VA, August 12, 1948, to Grover Helton and Flora Boardwine Helton, both deceased. He was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School in Emory, VA and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Don was employed by Ridgeway Clocks for 33 years and retired from Rockingham County School System. He enjoyed softball and pitching horseshoes and was an avid fan of the Patriots, Red Sox and Hokies. He had a special love for children, animals and the beach. Don was a member of Temple of Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Goins; seven brothers, Montague, Jack, Glenn, Carl, William, James and Clarence Helton.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Helton of the home; one daughter, Lynn Helton of Ridgeway; two sons, Wayne Helton and wife Angie of Ridgeway,
Brian (Donut) Helton and wife Heather of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Kylee Johnston, Brianna Helton, Tyler Helton, Meghan Neal and Sarah Phillips; two sisters, Betty Anderson and husband William of Goshen, IN, Mary Sue Johnston of Fort Wayne, IN; two brothers, Walter Helton and wife Delores of Saltville, VA Harrison Helton of Goshen, IN and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the home.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple of Faith Church in Ridgeway with Pastor Bobby Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
