

Estelle Bernard Lovell, 89, formerly of West Fork Road, Cascade, VA 24069 passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Blue Ridge Manor in Martinsville, Va.. She was born in Franklin County, VA on Oct. 03, 1924 to the late John Silas “Silas” Bernard and Hattie McCrickard Bernard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Filmore Lovell and a son, Jerry Wayne Lovell.
Survivors include: two sons and daughter-in-law, Rob & Becky Lovell of Martinsville, Tony Lovell of Eden, NC; three daughters and sons-in-law, Becki & Terry Rich of Newbern, NC, Marion & Linny Lancaster of Richmond, VA, Kathy Lovell Daily & David Bracey of Greensboro, NC. Three granddaughters; Shannon Marshall & husband Donnie Marshall, Meighan Daily, and Jocelyn Daily; two great-grandsons, Tyler Moore & Noah Moore.
Survivors also include: four sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia Walker of Penhook, Gertrude & Herbert McAlexander of Martinsville, Dorothy Martin of Penhook, Shiree & Carol Ashby of Penhook; one brother & sister-in-law, Doug & Nera Bernard of Penhook.
She was a member of Jones Chapel Church of the Brethren and attended West Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church. Estelle loved outdoor activities, especially gardening. She enjoyed canning from her garden and preparing meals for family and friends. Her specialty was fried apple pies with apples from her own trees and chocolate chip cookies which she shared with all children who came to her house. Quilting was another of her hobbies, having made dozens of beautiful quilts for her family as well as friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Mark Mahoney and staff, to the staff of Blue Ridge Manor for all their love and support as Estelle made this her home, and to the staff at Edwards Day Care Center and Stanleytown Health Care Center for their outstanding care and love as they also became her extended family.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18 at 1:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home on Broad Street in Martinsville with Minister Tim Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home and other times at the home of Rob & Becky Lovell, at 65 Derbyshire Lane, Martinsville, VA (276) 403-0055.
