Frank Eugene Benz, 67, of South County Line Road, Patrick Springs, VA, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. He was born in Mannheim, Germany, October 18, 1946 to Martin Benz and Helene Ahl Benz, both deceased. He was employed by Frontier Spinning and was also an avid gardener/farmer. Along with his wife, they sold the products of their labor at the Farmers Market in Martinsville.
Frank is survived by his wife, Angela V. Benz of the residence; two daughters and sons-in-law, Heidi and Jok’tan Smoot of Greensboro, NC, Marcia and Leo de la Torriente of Durham, NC; one son, Marty Benz of Atlanta, GA; one grandson, Garrison Smoot; one sister, Rita Reynolds of Greensboro, NC; nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the residence.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 12:10 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Mark White officiating.
