Iona Jackson McGuire

Iona Mae Jackson McGuire, 67, of 1349 Mount Vernon Road in Axton, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Henry County on September 18, 1943 to Cassell Jackson of Martinsville and the late Frances Gilbert Jackson. She was employed by the Henry County School System where she worked in the cafeteria of Mount Olivet Elementary School. She was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Jackson.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Harold B. McGuire of the residence; one daughter, Debbie McGuire Minter of Axton; one son, Michael McGuire of Lynchburg; two sisters, Dee Jones of Martinsville and Mavis Rigney of Axton; one brother, Darrell Jackson of Axton and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the McGuire Family Cemetery near her residence.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel and other times at the residence in Axton.
