

Jack Oscar Knott of Martinsville, Va peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 23, 2015 at the age of 92. He was born on March 9, 1923 in Stoneville, NC, to the late Elma Ruffen Knott and Burda Stegall Knott Dillon.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Knott and his wife Lisa Knott. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Jim Knott, Alex Knott, Sam Knott, and Tom Dillon and three sisters Nettie Rutherford, Dorothy Hairfield, and Susie Tilley.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen Smith Knott of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Wayne Knott of Martinsville and Allen (Jeannie) Knott of Spencer, grandchildren Keri Knott of Spencer, Ashley (Brandon) Eanes of Horsepasture, and Kevin (Ashley) Martin of Summerfield, NC. One great-grandson, Trevor Eanes. He is also survived by a special friend, Ronnie Miller and his family.
Jack was a member of Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church since the early 1950s. He served as a Deacon, an usher, a member of the grounds committee, and a member of the men’s brotherhood of the church. He was also a member of the Sunday School class and was always willing to do anything else that was needed for the church.
Jack served proudly in the 80th Division 3rd Army under George S. Patton as a Corporal. He fought in WW II including the Battle of the Bulge. He was in the second Battalion 318th infantry.He was employed by Bassett Mirror Company before serving in the war. When he returned home he continued to work at Bassett Mirror as a skilled glass cutter until the age of 75. He retired with 55 years service.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Kearfott Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the church prior to the service and other times at the home. Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
