Jean Comins Mitchell

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanly B. Mitchell Sr.

She is survived by her son, Stanly “Mitch” B. Mitchell, Jr.; daughters Margaret Lumadue and Susan Cusce; grandchildren, Thomas E. Goode Jr., David F. Goode, Jordan C. Mitchell and Jennifer Byrd; great grandchildren, Alex Byrd, Sydnor Mitchell and Maggie Rice.

Mrs. Mitchell served in the U.S. Army Medical Division at Walter Reid Hospital during WWII. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a 20 year volunteer for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 at King’s Grant Victory Chapel with Chaplain Paul Johnson and Pastor Keith Ritchie officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 146 East Main Street, Martinsville, VA. 24112 or the Kings Grant Fellowship Fund, 350 Kings Way Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.
