

Mamie Duffy Minter, 84, Martinsville, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Martinsville. She was born in Danville, Virginia, July 19, 1927 to Finch W. Duffy and Ethel M. Kirks Duffy. She retired from Bassett-Walker Knitting Company and was a member of Fuller Memorial Baptist Church in Martinsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Minter; step-mother, Annie Lelia Campbell Duffy; a son, Kenneth Wayne Minter, Sr.; three brothers, Claude, Bobby and Ira Duffy and one step-brother, Wesley Davis.
Surviving are three sons, Donnie Minter and wife Jeannie of Stanleytown, Jerry Minter and wife Barbara of Ridgeway, Mike Minter and wife Gail of Martinsville and daughter-in-law, Patricia Minter of Ridgeway; one sister, Norma Jean Hatcher of Collinsville; one brother, Frank Duffy of Radford; five grandchildren, Lynn Young, Angie Inman, Kenny W. Minter, Jr., Michael Minter, Jr. and Blake Minter; four great-grandchildren, Ashton Young, Parker Inman, Sidney Minter, Kailei Minter and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Fred Hardin officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home and other times at the home of Donnie Minter, 64 Victory Lane (off of Oak Level Road) Bassett, VA 24055.
