So sorry to hear of the loss of Mr. Haynes. He was my 7th grade history teacher at John Redd Smith Elementary School. He was a fabulous teacher and taught in a way that made history come alive. I remember him talking about his motorcycle! I am praying for the family.

I am so sorry for the loss of Philip, I enjoyed taking Darnae to visit with him.  He was always glad to see her, and always thank me for bringing her.  He will be missed!  Love and prayers to Darnae, Tammy and Robert and family at this difficult time.  I am here for you if you need anything!

Even though I didn’t have much of a relationship with uncle Philip I know that he cared, loved, and thought of me and my brother all the time.
He loved it when we would come to visit him and spend time with him.
He loved his teaching job and he could probably talk to you about it all day long if he wanted to.
Philip will be missed by many family and friends.

Philip was a great and dear friend. I was quite saddened to hear of his passing. I taught with him for 4 to 5 years prior to his retirement. He taught at all grade levels once he got his teaching degree from James Madison University (then Madison College) in Harrisonburg. He was extremely dedicated to his profession and he had a profound and lasting impact on a generation of Henry County students. I fondly remember the Saturday night dinners where 4 or 5 of us teachers would often get together at the Dutch Inn for wonderful meals and conversation. Philip, dear friend, God speed, and you will be sorely missed.
