

Mrs. Ruby Taylor Anderson, 94, of Martinsville passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. She was born in Amherst, VA on November 19, 1921 to the late Arthur and Carrie Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Anderson and a brother, Erwin “Bunny” Taylor.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by husband of 75 years, James H. Anderson, one daughter, Carol Collins of High Point NC and son, Dennis H. Anderson of Walkertown NC; grandchildren, Kim (Roger) Palmer, Doug W. (Stephanie) Anderson, and Jeffrey (Pam) Anderson; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Palmer and Samuel Anderson; and three sisters, Flossie Seay of Reidsville, NC., Thelma Rigney of Eden, NC., Cupidean Martin of Martinsville. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by a very special niece, Dean (Phil) Vernon of Lakeland FL., who was a daughter at heart. Once Mr. and Mrs. Anderson retired, Dean encouraged them to spend the winter months in Florida. That became a yearly tradition and lead to some of the happiest days of Ruby’s life because of the special things they did together.
Mrs. Anderson was a devoted member of Trinity Friends Church for over 70 years where she taught Sunday school in her younger years. She was a retiree of Sara Lee.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McKee Stone Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street, Martinsville, VA. The funeral will be Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Friends Church, located at 5 Summit Street, Martinsville, VA. and will be officiated by Reverend Carl Luff. Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
