Virginia Elizabeth Anderson Compton, 80, of Axton, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born in Henry County, December 21, 1933 to George William Anderson and Doris Huff Anderson Hall. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald R. Compton.
Surviving are one son, Albert William Grove, Sr. of Axton; grandson, Albert William Grove, Jr. of Rocky Mount; sister, Margaret A. Hurt of Henry; half-brother, Carol Hall of Axton; two uncles, Clarence and Morris Huff of Axton; aunt, Gertie Shelton Huff of Axton and a special friend, Pam Mason of Axton.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 28, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Mark Redd officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Henry County Public Safety Ambulance Fund, (in memory of Virginia Compton) 1024 DuPont Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.
