William Davis “W.D.” Whitlow, 75, of Martinsville, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his home. He was born in Henry County to Belvie D. and Lera Turner Whitlow. He was a graduate of Fieldale High School, retired safety supervisor at E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. with over 30 years service, member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitlow was preceded in death by a sister, Lera Phillips, and brothers, Aaron, Dennis, Gurnzie, Kenny, Kermit, Leonard and McGinnis Whitlow.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby Brown Whitlow, a daughter, Donna Whitlow of Austin, TX, sisters, Polly Mason of Collinsville, Dare Kennett, “Chris” Kilby, Mozelle Plaster, Marie Roop and Nancy Wyatt, all of Martinsville, and brothers, Frank Whitlow of Collinsville and Posey Whitlow of Martinsville.
The funeral will be held at McKee-Stone Funeral Home on Monday, June 25 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Maynard Plaster officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
