Alfred "Duff" Lynn Martin

Entered the presence of God on March 2nd 2023, in Lansing, MI surrounded by family. Duff was born in

Lansing, MI the Son of Charles James Martin and Zola Mae Cooley. Duff was raised in Okemos, MI where he grew up learning the value of hard work. Duff was a heavy equipment mechanic and welder for over 40+ years, working for Brown Brothers Construction and Eastlund Concrete. Duff was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 324 for over 40 years. Duff enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and his fur family. Duff was a direct descendant of Jacob F. Cooley and Lucy Cooley the first family to settle in Lansing, MI also known known as “Biddle City “at the time. He also descends from the first non-native male born in Lansing, MI (Nathan Lansing Cooley) his second Great Grandfather an Andersonville Prison POW in the Civil War. Duff is also a Mayflower descendant. Duff is survived by his wife Nancy L. Martin, Son Steven (Kathy) Martin, Stepdaughter Wendy (Dave) Thielen, Stepson Jerry Hause. Sister Zoanna (Bob) Riley, Brother Ralph (Jan) Martin. Granddaughter Ashley (Jesse) Nakfoor, Granddaughter Brittney (Ryan) Benard. Great Grandchildren Caiden Martin, (twins) Killian and Daxton Nakfoor, Immy Lou Nakfoor and Raegan Grace Benard. He is also survived by Jim Rhodes who was more like a Brother than a friend for over 70 + years. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Duff was preceded in death by his son, Alfred (Duffy) Lynn Martin (1982) Stepson Barry Hause (2019) Grandson Nathan Cooley Martin (2019). His Parents Charles J. Martin Sr and Zola Mae Cooley, Siblings Betty King, Charles (Jim) Martin Jr and Susie Newland.

Visitation will be Wed March 8,2023 from 5-8pm at Gorsline Runciman in Mason, MI. Funeral service will be March 9,2023 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Internment will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Luncheon to follow.
