Geraldine L. Battige

Geraldine Battige of Pinellas Park, Florida, passed away on October 5, 2022, at Dansville Country Care, at the age of 95. Born July 8, 1927 to Fay and Gladys Townsend, the youngest of eight children, she was raised by her uncle and aunt, Roscoe and Merna Arnold, after her mother died when she was 11 months old. She became a big sister to Janet, Phillip and Joyce. She married Melvin in 1949 and they enjoyed 60 years together before his passing in 2010. They made their home in Dansville and enjoyed many summers at their cottage on Loon Lake and spent their winters in Pinellas Park, ultimately making Florida their permanent home.

Gerry graduated from Ingham Township Agricultural School in 1944 and worked various jobs, including Auto Owners, Dansville Schools, and Dart Bank. Her life was well lived. She enjoyed the dog races, bingo, and playing cards, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Timothy) Basore, Jean (Thomas) Brown and Robert (Tamy) Battige; grandchildren, Andrea Mowry, Ryan (Jenna) Basore, Zachery (Stephanie) Brown and Kyle (Misty) Brown; great-grandchildren, Peyton Mowry, Timothy Mowry, Newton Basore, Cohen Brown, Crew Brown and Adalyne Brown; siblings, Janet Thompson-Irey, Phillip (Beverly) Arnold and Joyce (Harley) Allen; and many loving nieces and nephews.
