Duane passed away February 9, 2016 at the age of 83. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 26, 1932 to Harold and Florence (Truscott) Roost. Duane graduated from Sexton High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for Michigan Millers Mutual Insurance before joining John Dart as a partner at Dart Insurance Agency.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years Rita Roost; his daughters, Heather (Karl) Hanover, and Valerie (Douglas) DeMartin; his stepsons, Richard, Robert and Brian Gray; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his brother, Warren (Jean) Roost; and many nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Lee Smith. Duane was a lifelong avid sports enthusiast and member of the Methodist choir. He played competitive softball for many years, including playing for the US Army. He also enjoyed competitive golf with his many friends and playing cards with friends and family.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mason First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Ash St., Mason, MI 48854. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mason First United Methodist Church.
