

Jackson, MI Formerly of Bunker Hill Township
Born March 8, 1919 in Villa Grove, IL, the daughter of the late Michael L. and Lue Raynea (Quick), Kelley, died July 4, 2013 at the age of 94. Helen was a registered nurse and a 1939 graduate of Borgess Hospital School of Nursing. She married Austin E. Cavanaugh on November 16, 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Flint, MI. She and Austin raised a family and farmed in Bunkerhill Township. Helen enjoyed volunteering with children at the Ingham Medical Center. Preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 56 years, Austin E. Cavanaugh; daughter, Maureen Cavanaugh; son, Patrick Cavanaugh; son-in-law, Kenneth Eukel; granddaughter, Pamela Murray; sisters-in-law, Leona Kelley, Marion (Vincent) Heeney, Sr., Rita Cavanaugh, C.S.J., Connie (Ken) Laberteaux, Monica (Paul) Clinton, and Marie (Bill) Peek; brothers-in-law, C. Jack Clark, Robert Kanous and Norbert Cavanaugh. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Peggy (Jim) Eppinger of Flushing, MI, Colleen Eukel of Fargo, ND, Kevin (Mary Beth) Cavanaugh of Leslie, MI; special son, Robert (Rita) Weatherholt of Pickney, MI; daughter-in-law, Donna Cavanaugh of Palm Bay, FL; brother, C. Bernard Kelley of Flint, MI; sisters, Kathleen Kelley Clark of Corunna, MI, Coleen Kelley Kanous of Burton, MI; sister-in-law, M. Leonilla Cavanaugh of Jackson, MI; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. According to Helen’s wishes her body has been donated to Michigan State University. A memorial mass will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, July 13, 2013 at SS. Cornelius and Cyprian Catholic Church, 1320 Catholic Church Road, Leslie, MI with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
