John Al Utz, 73, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by loved ones. John was born November 10, 1944 in Ludington, Michigan to Aloysius and Elida (Olson) Utz. He worked for 34 years at the Fischer Body Plant in Lansing, and played his entire life. Outside of work, John enjoyed tending to his property in Eaton Rapids, boating, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a kind, loving, and gentle man, dedicated to his wife, his family, and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gregory Utz, his brothers, Daniel and Joseph Utz, and his parents.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Mary Beth (Miller); son, James Arni (Lindsay) Utz; brothers, Carl (the late Shirley) Utz and James (Nancy) Utz; sister, Joann (Ron) Jabrocki; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm and again from 6pm to 8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, with a Scripture Service at 7:30pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2pm at St. Simon Catholic Church, 702 E Bryant Rd, Ludington, with visiting from 11am until 2pm at the church. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington.
