Local drywaller Larry Hugh Woodrough passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the age of 73. He was born June 15, 1946, in Chicago, IL. He lived in Dresden, Tennessee for a few years, and spent most of his school years in Mason, Michigan. Larry graduated high school in 1965. Although he spent his senior year in New Jersey with his Uncle, he always considered the Mason Class to be his. He joined the Army in February of 1966 and, after basic training, spent two years in Germany working on tanks.
He returned home in January of 1969 and was married on March 8, 1969. He worked as a drywaller for his entire life, mostly hanging but also doing some finish work. He loved spending time with his family and tinkering on cars, tractors, and lawn mowers. His favorites were 1955 and 1956 Chevrolet, John Deere, and Lawn Boys. He also enjoyed going to car shows, swap meets, and playing games with friends.
Surviving are his wife of over 50 years, Marylou Woodrough; 2 sons, Gary (Tonya) and Terry (Leslie); 4 grandchildren, Anna, Danielle, Jacob and Cole; mother, Hazel Sackrider; brother, Jack (Becky); sister, Wanda Schmidt; 5 nieces and nephews, Carrie Anderson, Hannah Brown, Beth Kuzma, Sara Mapes, and Tobe Woodrough; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Van Hugh Woodrough and sister, Brenda Curtis.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, December 2, 2019, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Ball Dunn Chapel, with visitation from 2:00-5:00pm Sunday, and Monday from 11:00am until the service time.
