Haslett – Louie D. Smith, 65, passed away Wednesday, March 27th in Lansing, surrounded by family and friends. Born April 11th, 1953 to Winston and Beverly Smith of Grayling, he worked for Sparrow Health System for 33 years, retiring in November of 2012 as the Director of Engineering. Lou married the love of his life, Marcia, on March 29th, 1975. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with vacations on Higgins Lake. Lou will be remembered for his passion for the outdoors and the many memories he shared with family and his dear friends, Dave Watkins and Ed Ostrander.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marcia Kim Smith of 44 years; his son, Jeff Smith of Haslett; his sister, Sue (Denny) Geisenhaver of Haslett; grandchildren, Brendan Smith of Mason, Grace Reed-Smith of Haslett, Malachi and Kaden Smith of Williamston; and many nieces and nephews.
