Marvin Eugene Lott

Marvin Lott, 88, of Mason, MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family early morning Sunday, October 1st, 2017. Marvin was born July 31st, 1929 in Mason, MI to Ray and Audra (Powell) Lott. Marvin married the love of his life Vivian on June 19th, 1948. They were happily married for 69 years. Marvin was a loving husband, father, and friend, who knew how to tell a great story. Marvin graduated from Mason High School and Michigan State University’s Ag Tech program. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and had a great love of the land.

Marvin was very involved in the local community, serving as Alaiedon Township Supervisor, Ingham County Commissioner, and as a member of the board of education for Mason schools and the country schools. Marvin was also on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Milk Producers Association, Chairman of the Board of United Dairy Industries of Michigan, member of the Hard Scrabble Farm Bureau, Group One Kellogg Fellow, selected as Outstanding Young Dairy Couple of Michigan in 1961 with wife Vivian and was inducted to the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame in 1995. Marvin enjoyed spending time at his cottage in northern Michigan on Indian Lake and at his winter home in Estero, Florida.

He is survived by wife Vivian; sons, David (Kathy) and Steven; daughters, Diane (Paul) Jancha and Deborah (Robert) Tuson; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren (expecting 3 more); brother-in-laws, Junior Brownfield and Robert Phillips; sister-in-law, Dorothy Phillips; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Preceding him in death was sister, Joann Brownfield; brother-in-law, Gary Phillips; and sister-in-law, Margaret Phillips.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 6th from 5-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI 48854. On Saturday, October 7th, there will be a Memorial Service in honor of Marvin at Wheatfield United Methodist Church; friends will be received at 10:00 a.m. with service starting at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Marvin, Memorial Gifts may be made to Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice, 865 S.
