Mary L. Henson, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2020 in Mason, Michigan. Mary was born in Mason on July 15, 1939 to Olin and Alta (Hedgeland) West, and she spent much of her life in the Dansville and Mason area as one of 15 siblings. She loved gardening and garage sales, and she loved animals - especially her beloved rescue cat, Sonny. Mary loved bluegrass music and the festivities held in Leslie that would turn into a front porch jam session by the Floyd County Boys well into the night.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernial Henson; her stepson, Vernial Larry Henson; and numerous family members.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children, Colleen (Don) Maki and Ray Henson; her stepdaughter, Brinda (Kelly) Walker; her 7 grandchildren, Zach, Josh, Caitlyn, Stefan, Briana, Angela and Kaycee; her 7 great-grandchildren, Colton, Gunner, Mason, Emma, Aryia, Chevi, and Autumn; and her six surviving siblings.
A private gathering to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at a later date, full of the people, food, and music she loved so dearly.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s honor to the Ingham County Animal Shelter.
