Mr. O'Guin was my son's first bus driver and Edmund loved him!  Edmund would sit in the front seat and study Mr. O'Guin's technique on his ride to school - then report back to us that "Mr. O'Guin was showing a lot of road today."  Mr. O'Guin was a kind and calm presence -- reassuring to parents sending their kids off to school for the first time.  A real gem.  

Mike was the  BEST bus driver ever! My kids loved riding the bus home with Mr O'Guin at the wheel. He was very caring and took the little extra time with the little ones to make them feel comfortable riding the big "yellow fellow".  If I was running late getting home from work, he would wait for me, I'm sure he was late getting home for dinner because of it. The kids all loved him so much. As the kids got older, any time they saw him, they would get excited. It was always a pleasure to visit with him when I was out and about, he would ask how the kids are, what they are up to, etc. He will surely be missed by many. Prayers going out to the family.

Lou, Robin, Shawn and family,

Lou was remembering seeing you guys a couple years ago in Grand Rapids to watch the Maumee, Ohio team play baseball and catch up over lunch...so great to see you. 
Mike was such a great guy...always loved chatting with him and so blessed to have known him. 
I remember coming up for Robin's wedding with mom & dad...

Our heart breaks as we lose someone so special to the Spartan Women's Basketball Family.   It was customary for our program to see Mike and Lou at not only games but the end of the year banquet, ALL the radio shows and of course the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis.  Mike and Lou were as faithful Spartans as anyone could ask for but what set them apart was the way they loved - and we felt the love.  And I am sure that Mike (although as steadfast and quite as a mountain at times) was as loving a father, husband and son as he was a devoted Spartan.   May he rest in peace always.   <3

It is with a great deal of sadness that we send our heartfelt sympathy to Lou, Robin, Shawn and the entire O'Guin family. It seems like only yesterday our families were going to the high school wrestling events. May you always remember how proud Mike was of all of you and may you find strength in the fond memories of times past.  Fondly, Bill, Marie, Tim & Chris Howe

I met Mike through playing golf , I so enjoyed his support , encouragement,  and sense of humor. I will miss him as a good golfing friend. Rest in Peace Mike and hit it straight and hard in heaven.


I'm so sorry for your loss.  Mike will be missed at bowling on  Mondays and lunch afterwards.   My heart goes out to Lou and family.   ❤

Mr. O'Guin was an awesome bus driver to my sisters and me for many years. He was steadfast in his work of both driving carefully and keeping the kids on the bus safe, and he always had a cheerful "good morning" waiting. I remember him breaking up a number of fights over the years, and he was always fair to both sides when that happened. I'm sorry to hear of his passing and will be thinking of the family on Thursday. 

Mike was a great bus driver for our girls.  One day another bus (not Mason) hit our daughter's cat right in front of her eyes.  Then Mike came along in the Mason bus.  He got out of his bus, hugged our sobbing daughter, then he moved the cat to the side of the road so it would not get hit again.   Mike really cared!

I am so sorry to hear about Mike's death.  I knew the family for a long time, and we always had good conversations.  He will be missed, but his memory will live on.

Mr. O’Guin. Was such a great role model to me growing up, I could always look forward to starting my day off with a friendly smile and warm good morning Jesse! Every school day Mike would pick me up from my bus stop, as I was one of the first stops, we always had time to chat. Mike always took time to conversate and get to know his kids. Mike and I grew close in 10 or so years he was my bus driver and remembered being so excited when he made it to my open house. Mr. O’Guin also shared a love for wrestling and fed that seed in me, creating another avenue to keep us close. I looked forward to the duels he would drive us to, and eating breakfast with him before Saturday tournaments. Mike was a good man, in a world where we need many more like him. Kind, warm, friendly, stern, a mentor, role model, generally speaking an all around stand up guy. I will truly miss him as I wish I had the opportunity to express to him the impact he had on me and my life. God speed Mr. O’Guin, until next time. 

Mr O'Guin,you were the greatest ( besides Lou) bus driver there ever was!We knew our kids were in the best hands!There aren't enough words to say how tremendously sad we are to hear this news.I will miss seeing your jacket hang in your special spot at the basketball games.We loved you from the bottom of our hearts💚Go Green

We  have many fond memories of the good times and laughs we had with Mike.   He always bought a birthday cake for me and my bowling friend every year, who was born the same day and year I was.   He always wanted me to go and have ice cream with him because he liked ice cream as much as I do.  Another memory I have is how he would like to put his size 15 shoe up next to my 8 1/2 and we both would have a good laugh.    Mike and Lou will forever be in our thoughts.
