Myron Whipple died on Memorial Day, May 26, 2014 due to complications from multiple physical impairments and recent surgeries. He was born in Detroit on March 12, 1930 to Asa S. Whipple and Gladys I. Atchison. He grew up on a farm outside of Northville, MI and graduation from Howell High School in 1948, Michigan State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He married Lois A. Pierson in 1951and they were married a total of 63 years. During that time they owned a farm on 357 Holt Road, Williamston for 8 years and moved to Mason in August 1964. He began teaching elementary school at Immaculate Heart in Lansing for 3 years and then one year in Jackson at Vander Cook Lake. The rest of his teacher career was done at Dansville Agriculture School for a total of 26 years where he retired in 1991. During his retirement he repaired and rebuilt farm tractors, made and sold violins and was always gardening because he loved being a farmer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church first in Wheatfield, Williamston and then in Mason since 1964 and taught Sunday school over 40 years. He loved his family which included his wife, Lois, daughter, Cindy Whipple-Foreman, son, Brian (Carol) Whipple, grandsons David and wife Vianey, Colin and Allison with Grandson Nolan, Conor and granddaughter Megan as well as youngest daughter Sue Whipple-Hicks. He will be missed by all. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church of Mason, 201 E. Ash St., Mason, Michigan with interment to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813.
