

Age 82, died April 16, 2015 after a long battle with his health. He was born January 1, 1933 to Leo K. and Maurine E. (Harris) Brown. Bob graduated from Leslie High School in 1951, enlisted in the Marines serving in the Korean War and then obtained a Master’s Degree from Michigan State University in geology. Bob worked in the oil fields of Texas and Louisiana before returning to Leslie, MI to manage Childs Farm Service with family and retiring in 1999. Bob enjoyed woodworking, making furniture, playing cards, reading, golfing and traveling to visit family and friends. Bob was a lifelong supporter of the town and schools of Leslie; enjoyed watching MSU athletics and the Detroit Tigers. Bob also enjoyed expressing his opinions about politics and social events by writing articles for the Lansing State Journal. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo and mother, Maurine; sister, Patricia Dowding; and step-mother, Mary Ethel (Palmer) Brown. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary A. (Childs) Brown; son, Eric (Kimberly) Brown; daughter, Kelley (Michael) Holland; 6 grandchildren; brothers, Thomas and James Brown; sister-in-laws; cousins; nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. Jeff DeWeerd, and the staff of Allegiance and Vista Grande Villa Health unit. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Leslie United Methodist Church, 401 S. Main St., Leslie, MI with the Rev. Fred Fischer officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
