

Steve was a 1975 graduate of Waverly High School where he played both varsity basketball and baseball all 3 years helping the Warriors to their first Diamond Classic championship in 1975 in baseball while attaining All City honors as well as All Conference. Steve played on numerous city championship baseball teams while growing up and then for almost 20 years in the Men’s City League at Municipal winning a championship in 1986 with Sanches Construction. He then played on numerous teams in the Men’s Senior league as well. After his playing days ended Steve got into coaching youth baseball winning league, city and state titles and one prestigious John Smoltz national title in Georgia with Sanches Construction. Steve worked for over 35 years for MDOT as a Transportation Technician in both road and bridge design as well as computer support. Upon retirement Steve took up bowling with his family which lead to numerous fun family times on the lanes.
Steve’s parents Charles and Patricia both preceded him in death as did his in-laws, Matt and Linda Silvas. Steve leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years Jodie, the apple of his eye and one true love in his life who gave him everything and took care of him in his later years. Steve is survived by one sister Dianne (Jim) Easterling, and 3 in-laws Rob Silvas, Amy (Aaron) Sawatzki, and Angel (Eric) Bartlett. Steve also leaves behind to cherish his memory 3 children Jennifer (Tom) Hoffman, Ken (Annalesha) Silvas, and Todd (Sarell) Driver, 8 grandchildren Martina and Landon Hoffman, Devin and Drake Silvas and Harmony, Haven, Aubri, and Kameron Driver, great granddaughters Dylan, Lennon, and great grandson Bennett. He also leaves behind his wonderful dogs Chico, Charlie, George and Dani and his cats, Hobbs, Harper, Lucy, Gus and Nala.
A Funeral Service for Steve will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00AM with a visitation one hour prior at Eden United Bretheren Church 1938 Eden Rd. Mason, MI 48854.
