Age 63, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011. He was born on January 1, 1948 in Lansing to Robert F. and Charlotte M. (Smith) Sawyer. Tom was a Sea Bee in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After the service he owned and operated a restaurant in Newport, RI and later went on to work construction with his father. Tom then worked for General Motors, retiring in 2001 after 30 years of service. Tom made many friends throughout the years. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and all who knew him would say you could never find a harder working man. He had many loves in his life a few being the Miami Dolphins, of course the team of `72, watching Jimmi Johnson race on Sunday’s, but most of all, his beloved wife, Karol whom he shared it all with. He is survived by his wife; her 2 sons, and his 2 nieces and one grand niece.
Tom was preceded in death by: his sister, Laura Bell and his parents. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S.
