Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather, Walter John Gurzenda, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 6, 2011, at the age of 69. He was born in Bronx, NY, August 19, 1941, to Walter V. and Stefania (Wojcik) Gurzenda. His parents preceded him in death along with his first wife, Diane Taylor. He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Bonnie (Hallenbeck) Gurzenda; daughters, Jennifer (Todd) Beals, Kathleen Vasquez and Wendy Rios; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Walt deeply loved his family and friends. In 2009 Walt retired after 29 years at Dart Container Corporation in Mason as an International Accounts Manager. He attended Michigan State University and was a very active member of St. James Catholic Church in Mason serving on various councils and was a member of Knights of Columbus. Walt will be missed more than words can say by family and friends alike. A celebration of Walt’s life begins on Wednesday, August 10, from 5-7 p.m. with a memorial visitation at St. James Catholic Church, 1010 S. Lansing St., Mason, with the Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church.
