Darlene was born on February 9th, 1937 to Sam and Romaine (Sakacs) Vitello. She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1954. Following in her father's footsteps she proceeded to attend and graduate from beauty school and subsequently worked with her dad at Sam Vitello’s beauty salon in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
At her best friend’s wedding, she met the love of her life, Dar was the maid of honor and Richard was the best man, and they married six months later on November 28, 1957. Building a life together filled with love and four cherished children to embrace. Dar loved homemaking, decorating, cooking and baking, sharing her talents with all who entered her beautiful home. Bowling, playing cards and sports, specifically, Indians (she refused to call them Guardians), Browns and the Cavs filled many happy hours. "General Hospital" took her away on many afternoons. Don’t dare call her when GH was on. Dar and rick enjoyed picnics at lake Pymatuning, Daytona beach and Holmes County trips with their immediate family and extended family. Dar's favorite pastime was spending hours with her loved ones hosting many family and holiday gatherings. Not to forget the Sunday pot of sauce! She was a woman of strong faith, evident as she weathered many losses with strength from God.
Dar will be truly missed but live on forever in our hearts and memories! May she rest in the light, love and peace of our lord, Jesus Christ.
