Jim Basilone

JIM " JB " BASILONE. Beloved husband for 63 years of Evelyn (nee Vlah); dearest father of Mary Jane Turner (Bill), Janice Hundt (Jeff), Joan Hamilton (Dan), Michael (Mary) and Jimmy; devoted grandfather of Laura Moore (Ham), Jeffrey Hundt (Megan), Shauna Durant (Patrick), Brittany Basilone, Grant Turner (deceased), Brennan Turner, Meaghan Basilone and Brendan Basilone; dear brother of Frank (deceased), George (Edith), Theresa Galicki (Al) and Mary Jane Chapman (Bill, deceased). Jim was a graduate of Ohio University and 65 year member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He earned Master's Degrees from Kent State University and Western Reserve University. He was an educator with the Cleveland Public Schools for 30 years, retiring as a Principal from Memorial Elementary School. He was also a high school basketball coach, and worked for Collinwood Concrete for 10 years as a cement mixer driver. His hobbies included basketball, playing at Willoughby Senior Center three times a week until age 85. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, playing golf and was a ranger at Briardale Greens G.C. for many years. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve and Visiting Angels for all their wonderful care. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 AM Saturday May 14 at Holy Cross Church of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. Interment All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS. (at Lander Rd.) Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
