I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy for the loss of John.  I worked with John at DFAS and found him to be a truly honorable man.  He had a great and sincere love for his wife, Marlene.  All of you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.

I went to school with John's late wife Marlene who I thought so much of and had a lot of fun with and sorely miss too. I remember when they met and enjoyed doing things with them.

Sorry to hear of Sonny's passing. I can remember him sitting on Grandma's and Grandpap's porch trading stories with the rest of the men when we would visit. May he rest in peace.

Prayers of comfort for your family Jennifer .. you were blessed with wonderful parents who are now BOTH beautiful guardian angels.

42 years ago I met John, aka Yaz aka the water buffalo.  In some ways it was like looking in a mirror.  Catholic school, working class family, John Carroll, military service, and young families.  We worked together for 10 years and car pooled the whole time.  We started a poker game that lasted for over 30 years with some legendary happenings.   We played golf together and in our younger days and frequently had beverages before returning home.  This lead to many adventures and created a bond that would never be broken.  As we aged fishing became our main hobby and we thouroughly enjoyed it.
  He was my friend ,my confidant and always made me laugh, always.  No matter how bad his troubles were he kept his strength,his humor and his love for his family, all of you.
  Two songs come to mind.  One is "the Gambler" with the line "the best that you can hope for his to die in your sleep" Way to go Yaz. You nailed it  The second one is the song "Lucille", also by Kenny Rodgers that we sang many many times at Bills Place a small bar near the golf course.  The line"you picked a fine time to leave me Lucille".  Well you hovanah it's fishing season and you left me. I"m not happy.  I know your in a better place with first crack at the big fish.  Land them all.
