ABOUT STEVE’S LIFE. Soon after Steve was born in Brooklyn NY, the young family moved to Long Island and then northern New Jersey. Steve’s father Albert was an engineer and his mother Eleanor an artist. They often visited family members in NYC. They moved to Canton Ohio when Albert received a promotion in his engineering career. They were active in the Catholic Church and Steve graduated from Canton Central Catholic High School. He was an Eagle Scout and participated in the Thespian Club.
After Steve finished undergraduate school at Bowling Green University, he worked and lived at Wainwright House in Rye NY for several months. He received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Duquesne University in Pittsburg PA. He worked in San Francisco a while, bringing home Elrond the cat to Ohio, who was followed later in Steve’s life by Carter the cat. Then he settled into his career at Northcoast Behavioral Healthcare. He also continued in a lifetime of exploration of the human psyche and spirit, along with many healing modalities. His search was serious and also whimsical, exploring the nuances of body and mind and the mysteries of life.
Steve met his wife Laura in a Kripalu Yoga group and they married in 1988. They were both active in personal and spiritual growth programs at Shadybrook, serving as board members a number of years. They studied for a couple years at Fellowships of the Spirit in the Lily Dale NY area and were happily active at the Church of the Angels for several years. They continued their exploration in a seven-year heart-centered hypnotherapy training at the Wellness Institute in the Seattle WA area. Steve brought many elements of education and experience to his private practice as a psychologist.
Steve successfully faced a number of challenges during his life, in particular management of Type 1 Diabetes during a busy career. Toward the end of his life, Steve’s challenges heightened greatly, and he surprised many with his resilience and resourcefulness as he faced those challenges. Gratitude is extended for the love, support, and good times with family and close friends.
