Obituario de Lucille "Lou" Harper Smith
Lucille Harper Smith passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the age of 92. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 10, 1925, the daughter of Irene Richards Harper and Joseph Talmadge Harper. Lou was the widow of George Bernard Smith. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Sue Smith, Janet Smith Baker (Gary) and Georgie Smith Green (Gil); six grandchildren, David Baker (Elizabeth), Eric Soble (Tracey), Wendy Hope (David), Stacey Sutton, Raegan Baker and Jordan Baker; and seven great-grandchildren, Jake Soble, Talmadge Hope, Anne Ross Hope, Harper Hope, Dorie Baker, Lucie Baker and George Baker. Lou graduated from John Marshall High School and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank where pictures always show her smiling and having great fun. She had wonderful stories about growing up in the ‘30s and ‘40s and being with her cousin, Beth and best friend, Honey Mae. Lou kept up with the times with the music and interests of her daughters as they were growing up in Ginter Park. They could always count on her to be the hostess at a last minute get-together. A favorite sight for all who knew them was seeing Lou and George dancing to the oldies. Her home was the site of many memorable extended family holidays and every child and grandchild’s birthday party. Lou was an active grandmother, providing after school care, baking for various school events and turning her home into the site for holiday dinners and birthday parties for this next generation. She will be missed and remembered with love by all. We are grateful for the compassionate care given by Hospice Community Care, especially by Ann Friesen, Bernadette Simms, Shanna Witcher and Reverend Ed Powell. A private graveside service will be held.
