Ana Elgros Rozental, affectionately known as Bobe to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, passed away peacefully at 93 after living independently until the last few weeks. Born in Buenos Aires, she married Abraham Rozental, a Dauchau survivor, who predeceased her.
Bobe was devoted to her sons, Ignacio (Lisa) and Ruben (Jodi); her grandchildren, Jessica (Shay), Brian (Liz), Melanie (Greg), Zoie, Emmalie, and Rachael; and her great-grandchildren, Yonatan, Noa, Sophie, and Hannah. She also cherished her sisters, Mary and Esther, and her loving nieces and nephews, especially Judith. She delighted in sharing joy, laughter, and countless memories with her family, traveling internationally as often as she could and tried to win the jackpot in every casino she found. A lifetime subscriber to the printed Miami Herald, Ana enjoyed culture through countless ballet performances and hundreds of movie premieres.
A proud American who never missed an election, she also loved Israel, treasuring visits to Jerusalem and participating in the first March of the Living with her husband. Her warmth, generosity, and spirited determination left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her matzah balls were legendary and will be missed sinking to the bottom of the pot.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Ramat Shalom Beth Israel in Plantation, Florida, followed by a private burial. Shiva will be observed at the same location from 4:30–7:00 p.m., with a minyan service at 6:00 p.m.
May her memory be a blessing.
