

Bessie (Betty), 96, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2010. Betty was born in Kiev, Russia on Feb. 28, 1914 and emigrated to New York in 1923. She graduated from Business School and became a bookkeeper. She married Jack Rubin in 1937 and they moved with their two children to Miami in 1950. Betty epitomized the Jewish matriarch to whom all went for love, advice and wisdom. She was a partner to Jack for over 56 years in all their endeavors, whether family, business or the synagogue. Their love and devotion to each other was unwavering. For all her life, Betty was as protective as a lioness of her family, siblings, children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest joy was caring for others and she did this lovingly and with unending strength. Betty’s excellent bookkeeping skills were utilized as Treasurer of both the Temple Zamora sisterhood and Kineret Mizrachi. She was named the Women of Valor at Temple Zamora. She had great interest in civic and political events and took pride in working as a volunteer at the voting polls Her family include children, Lillian Poms (Allan) and Melvin Rubin (Susan), grandchildren, Douglas, Eric (Krista), Kevin (Cristin), Laura, Michael and great grandchildren Mirabai, Kacie, Cayla, Connor, Julia, Justin and Troy. Services will be at Mt. Nebo Kendall Memorial Chapel, Riverside-Gordon, 5900 S.W. 77th Ave., Miami, Florida, 305-274-0641 on Tuesday, September 21, at 10:00 AM. Interment following the service will be at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery at 1125 N. W. 137th St. Miami, Florida. Shiva service will be held at 8955 S. W. 85 Terrace at 7 P.M.
