
Betty Lou Braverman, 94, passed away on April 27, 2026. She was born on March 28, 1932 in Raeford , North Carolina and resided in Lauderhill, Florida at the time of her death. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Braverman , her brothers, Douglas Nixon, James Nixon and Hursel B. Nixon, Jr. and sister, Lucille Pendergrass.
Betty loved music and dance and tried to bring a ray of sunshine to everyone she knew or met. She originally lived in Miami, Florida, and raised her family there. She was a real estate agent and administrative assistant at the University of Miami. After her husband passed away, she moved to St Petersburg, Florida, where she retired. She lived in St. Petersburg for the next 30 years before relocating back to Broward County, Florida a year before her passing.She assisted in sponsoring and running the big band dances at the St. Petersburg Coliseum for the last 25 years and received a key to the city of St. Petersburg as Volunteer of the year in 2010.
Betty is survived by her sons Steven Braverman and his wife Karen Fletcher and Michael Braverman and his wife and Rebecca Braverman, and her grandchildren Victoria Swedler, Brian Braverman, Michael Braverman and Samantha Braverman, and her great-grandson, Blake Swedler.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday , May 3, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Riverside-Gordon Mount Nemo Cemetery.
