David M. Berman

BERMAN, DAVID M. beloved husband of Sydell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 85 on the evening of Saturday, September 16, 2017. He was the devoted father of Neil Berman of Coral Gables, Florida and Robin Angel of Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was the loving Grandpa to Dylan (Erika) Baklor, Seth Baklor, Corey Berman, and Great Grandpa to Luke Baklor. He found true family with his Sister and Brother-in-Laws Leon and Anna Namoff, Kenny and Bernice Rubin, and Bob and Mildred Kutner. He will be sorely missed by his nieces and nephews with whom he loved spending time. Born in New York to Gertrude Sanders on November 2, 1931, Dave was an only child and was raised in a household with his mother, beloved Aunt Sarah, and his grandparents. He was the center of their world. He moved to Miami in 1946 when he was 15 years old and went to Miami High where he met lifelong friends. He studied accounting at the University of Miami. He was a CPA and practiced accounting until after his 80th birthday. After college, he met Sydell Namoff who became his beloved wife of 62 years. They were embraced by a tight-knit community, the Westchester gang. Together they enjoyed a full life. He treasured the tranquil serenity of Deering Bay for the past 6 years of his life. Thanks to Tomar Gal, he kept moving all those years. Thanks to the Lornas for all the love and care. Thanks to Marcia Frazier for her tireless commitment to his comfort. He was a kind, gentle soul and will be truly missed by anyone who knew him. Dave joked with his loved ones to be certain they mentioned his favorite passion in his obituary: food. He would coordinate his doctor appointments around lunch time to eat at some of his favorites about town including but not limited to Joe's, Ruben's for Lamb Shank, Casa Larios for Arroz con Pollo, Original Pancake House, Roaster's and Toasters, and Bagel Emporium. Join us for a memorial service on Tuesday, September 19th at 2:30 PM at Riverside Gordon Chapel at Mount Nebo Cemetery, 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami, Florida. Friends and Family are invited to sit Shiva afterwards at the Berman's home at 13647 Deering Bay Drive, Apt. 122, Coral Gables, Florida.Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
