He was pre-deceased by his father, Herbert Leblang, his mother Betty Leblang, his father-in-law Gilbert Press and his beloved mother-in-law Ada Press.
As a young man, David contemplated a career as a professional basketball player and spent time with his family between Ellenville, NY and Miami, FL.
David began his career with his father, owning and operating Nite Life Tours in Miami Beach for many years. He later integrated tourism with the transportation business when he joined Red Top Sedan Service/American Bus Lines, which was bought out by Greyhound Bus Company in 1982. He and his partners bought back the company from Greyhound under the name American Sightseeing Bus Lines, Inc. He became Vice President of Sales of the new company. David was a pioneer in motor coach tours in Miami, leading to a long and successful career in local tourism. He was instrumental in acquiring an exclusive contract for bus service to and from Miami to the then new Walt Disney World in Orlando. He developed many exclusive bus tours to Miccosukee Indian Village, Parrot Jungle, Bush Gardens, Kennedy Space Center, Sea World and other tourist hot spots in South Florida. He also brought in the Spirit of Miami party boat. He used his many contacts in local convention bureaus and the hotel industry to bring large corporate events to Miami and provided bus services for the Orange Bowl, trade shows, cruise lines and other large conferences.
He arranged the sale of the company in 1996 to Coach USA where he stayed on as a consultant. David was well respected, a household name for his professionalism and accomplishments. He was sought out by industry leaders to share his expertise well into recent years.
David was an ardent golfer, and loved basketball, running and the Celtics. But most of all he loved his wife of 51 years, Sharon. No one could miss the love they shared, and the joy he felt whenever Sharon was at his side. He also loved his extended family, his brother-in-law Jay Press and his children Melanie and Grant, his foster children Simon and Kathy Tse and their children Mandi and Melissa, and all of the family scattered around the country.
David was loved by everyone for his calm demeanor, wisdom, sense of humor, kindness and gentleness. He will be greatly missed.
