Marcia Jervis Kanner, born August 24, 1935 in Cambridge, MA and moved with her family to South Florida in 1946. Massachusetts steeped a love of history in her, but Florida was where she felt rooted. She graduated from Miami Beach High and the University of Florida and later became active with HistoryMiami (then known as Historical Association of Southern Florida). She served as the museum's Chairman of the Board, endowment coordinator and with Dr. Joe Fitzgerald, co-founded Miami Map Fair International, the museum's signature event which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018.
She was a staunch Democrat and a political junkie to the end, watching James Comey's testimony the day she died of cancer.
She is survived by Lewis Kanner, her husband of 59 years, daughter Ellen Kanner, son-in-law Benjamin Bohlmann, sister Natalie Segal and beloved nieces and nephews. The family requests donations to Fitzgerald Kanner Trust for Historic Maps through HistoryMiami.
Arrangements under the direction of Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mount Nebo (Kendall), Miami, Florida.
