Sandi was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. She went to the University of Miami and obtained a Bachelors of Education Degree. She met her husband, Albert Kramer, at the University of Miami and were happily married for almost 64 years.
Sandi started her career teaching school at Air Base Elementary School in Homestead. They then moved back to New Jersey for a couple years where Albert grew up and they had 2 children, Marcia and Jeff. They then returned to Miami in 1966 where she accepted a teaching position at Temple Beth Am Preschool.
She taught kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade and then was promoted to Director of the Preschool. She thrived in that position as she was in tune with all the children and parents and their needs. She was also a Member of the Early Childhood Educators which was sponsored by the Central Agency Jewish Education. She also attended the Union of Hebrew Congregations National Early Childhood education conferences where Temple Beth Am was recognized as a leader. She had an essential role getting Temple Beth Am Preschool accredited by the prestigious National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) which provides information linking educational practices to current educational research guidelines. Approximately 7% of the nation’s early childhood programs maintain this designation and Temple Beth Am is still recognized nationally today thanks to her participation.
When she retired in 1995, she became active in Guardian Ad Litem representing abused, abandoned and neglected children in court and the community. She was proud of the work she did for them.
She also had more time for the loves of her life, her 4 grandchildren: Brian, Rebecca, Ryan and Jordan. She had special days for each of them taking them to adventures all around South Florida. She was never too busy for her children or grandchildren and was always available for anything asked of her. It was her joy to give her time and energy and love.
In her free time, she also loved going to jazzercize and walking in Dadeland Mall with all of her friends. She was very social and being around people made her happy.
Sandi will be remembered for her kind, caring, social nature and wanting to befriend everyone. Her stories were animated and lively and will be missed by all.
Sandi is survived by her husband, Albert, daughter Marcia (Robert), son Jeffrey (Heidi) and grandchildren Brian, Rebecca, Ryan and Jordan.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 30th at Mount Nebo/Kendall. Donations can be made in her name to Temple Beth Am (www.tbam.org).
