

LANSTER, SOLOMON, D.D.S., of Miami, Florida passed away peacefully on January 27, 2014 at the age of 85. Sol is survived by his beloved wife, Helene (nee Ressler) of 61 years. He was a loving and devoted father to Dr. Robert Lanster (Sharda), Dr. Steven Lanster (Rochelle) and Karen Zinn (Robert). Sol was adored by grandchildren, Lauren, Emily (Matthew) and David Lanster, Jennifer and Michael Zinn, and Brooke and Aaron Lanster. He was also loved and admired by his many nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Gertrude Lerner and Dr. Charlotte Ressler. Born on May 20, 1928 in New York, Sol was the son of Louis and Esther Lanster and the brother of Irene. He was raised in Sea Gate, New York and attended Lincoln High School before enrolling in Brooklyn College, where he was the captain of the wrestling team. Sol then went on to Dental School at the New York University, College of Dentistry. In 1952, Sol and Helene were married. They moved to Camp Le June, North Carolina, where Sol served as a dentist in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander in 1957. After his discharge, Sol moved his young family to Miami where he practiced dentistry on Coral Way for over 50 years. Sol was a member of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity, a life member of the Florida Dental Association and a pioneer member of Temple Beth Am. Sol was a kind and generous man and an avid reader, sportsman, world traveler, fisherman and stamp and coin collector, who also loved his card games. He was admired and loved by all who knew him and will be profoundly missed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 28, 2014 at 2:00 at Riverside-Gordon Chapels of Mt.
